Las Vegas Honored with Global JustServe City Award for Outstanding Volunteer Leadership

At the Las Vegas City Council meeting on April 15, local JustServe representatives recognized the City of Las Vegas with a Global JustServe City Award. The award recognizes the city for their exceptional dedication to promoting and supporting volunteerism, creating a culture of service that uplifts individuals, strengthens neighborhoods, and builds lasting connections.

In February of 2025, the City of Las Vegas was designated as a JustServe City, and then in November 2025, the city was one announced as just one of five global cities to receive the Global JustServe City Award, presented at the 2025 National League of Cities in Salt Lake City. The City Council meeting on April 15, 2026, provided an opportunity to personally acknowledge this special designation. As part of the award ceremony, a short video was shared that features city staff and others sharing why volunteerism is so important for a strong and unified community. Las Vegas City Council member Nancy Brune praised Las Vegas, “The fact that Las Vegas is one of the few cities to receive this award shows that just as Las Vegas has become a global sports destination, or a cultural destination, . . . we are now a city that promotes and uplifts our residents, our communities, and really believes in connection and service.” Elise Noorda, local JustServe Director, said, “We all know that so much more can get done when we work together and that is what JustServe is all about. The City of Las Vegas truly is remarkable in its efforts to engage in volunteerism. You truly are building a culture of service in this city. JustServe values our relationship with the city of Las Vegas. Thank you, Las Vegas, for your leadership and your great efforts.” In addition, JustServe is a partner with America Gives, an adjunct of the America250 mission, local JustServe representatives are recognizing 250 local community members who provide exemplary volunteer efforts. Today they chose to recognize Mayor Berkely and all of the City Council members with the Heart of Service Award, presented in honor of extraordinary individuals whose service strengthens individuals and inspires others to serve. This award shines a light on their individual efforts in community service.
