Easter is more than one Sunday each year. Easter is a time of renewal and a season to remember Him and the love Jesus Christ shows to us. He loved us so much that He suffered and died for us. Then, on the third day, He rose again. His Resurrection means we will all live again. As we seek to feel His greater love this season, when Easter Sunday arrives, we will experience a greater measure of the joy, gratitude, and peace that come from knowing that Jesus Christ lives.
Year-round, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints try to keep the Sabbath day holy by worshipping at church and focusing the day on activities that help us draw closer to Jesus Christ. Easter Sunday brings a special focus on Christ’s Resurrection. That might look like families reading passages about the Resurrection from the Bible together or congregations including Easter musical numbers in their worship services.
Many Latter-day Saints celebrate events leading up to Easter, like Palm Sunday and Good Friday, by studying the events of Holy Week, listening to songs about Jesus Christ, and enjoying a special meal with family and friends.
Jesus Christ is a living, resurrected being. He leads and guides His prophets and apostles today through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe He will return to the earth again and reign with peace.
Seminary is a four-year program for high school students to study the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the scriptures and the teachings of Latter-day prophets, they deepen their understanding and grow closer to their Savior.
Held during the school year across the Greater Las Vegas area, seminary classes are often attended in the early morning before the school day begins.
“Before I knew there was a Savior, my life felt empty, and my actions reflected that… everything changed when I came to know Jesus Christ and His Atonement. I realized my life does matter—my choices, actions, and decisions have purpose. Knowing that Christ died for me opened my eyes to my worth. I wasn’t just drifting through life; I was loved, chosen, and redeemed, and my decisions could impact those around me.
“Jesus Christ has helped me with the challenges in my life by bringing me comfort…”
The Savior has said “draw near unto me, and I will draw near unto you.” Doctrine & Covenants 88:63
“…I love my Savior with all my heart and I’m constantly thankful for His matchless love and His sacrifice for me.”
In our family for Easter week we talk about the days leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection. Each night we focus on the day before the cross and resurrection chronologically. We read the scriptures that coincide with those events and have an age appropriate discussion, mostly geared toward the littles in our home.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matt. 11:28
