Groundbreaking Held for New Stonebridge Chapel Meetinghouse on Western Edge of Las Vegas

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held a groundbreaking for a new meetinghouse that will serve 1,000 of its members who reside on the western edge of Las Vegas. It will be located at 860 Crossbridge Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada 89138.
“We excited to have a meetinghouse in this area,” said Ian Yamane, President of the Redrock Stake, the local leader of the three congregations that will use the facility. “This new building will be a blessing to all of our members who will utilize this building for Sunday worship and midweek activities for all ages.”
To commemorate the milestone, City Councilwoman Victoria Seamon presented Tom Thomas with a certificate of recognition to the Stonebridge Chapel to “celebrate this milestone as the beginning of a structure dedicate to faith, unity and service.”
In attendance were Tom Thomas, Area Seventy, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ian Yamane, Stake President, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Victoria Seamon, Las Vegas City Council, representatives from Howard Hughes Corporation, and local members of the church.
Meetinghouses of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are where Sunday worship services, youth gatherings, service projects, and other community events take place. Currently there are more than 95 meetinghouses in the Las Vegas Valley.
Meetinghouses are different than temples, which have a more specific purpose. Temples are specially set apart for sacred service and ceremonies which lift and inspire participants as they make commitments to follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ.
