Mayor Shelley Berkley hosted a Breakfast for Heroes, celebrating our community’s dedicated faith leaders on October 22, 2025. It was an inspiring morning of gratitude and appreciation for those who uplift others through faith and service. The City of Las Vegas took this opportunity to thank the honorees and their congregations for their tireless commitment to strengthening our community and making a lasting impact on so many lives.
Elder Thomas A. Thomas, local priesthood leader for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was one of the honorees. Elder Thomas commented, “I am honored to be here with such great people of faith who are doing so much in this Valley. And in all honesty, I’m really here representing 235 Bishops and the members of their congregations who try to make a difference in this community by reaching out and finding the needs and partnering with the city, with the county, with all of the leaders wherever they might be, to lift the hands that hang down, to be peacemakers, to extend love to their neighbors. I’m so honored to represent a faith that loves partnering with our brothers and sisters of other faiths. We all have to come together. We all have to bring the resources that we have and join together, because otherwise, there are going to be so many that are left by the wayside. We believe that the Savior taught that everyone has worth, but the only way we can find them is by all of our faiths coming together.”

Ivy of Kinship Community Church; Pastor Camilo Perez of Strong Tower Christian Center; Elder Tom Thomas of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
