“Born to Shine” Celebrates Talent, Courage, and Community in Logandale

The Moapa Valley High School auditorium was transformed into a dazzling black-tie, red-carpet celebration as a packed house and standing-room-only crowd gathered for the inspiring “Born to Shine” program honoring local special needs individuals on May 13, 2026.

The unforgettable evening celebrated nearly 30 participants ages 12 and older, each bravely stepping into the spotlight to share their unique talents and personalities with the community.

Guests were welcomed with an elegant red-carpet arrival, where participants — dressed in formal attire — were introduced to cheering supporters before heading backstage for professional portraits, adding a touch of Hollywood glamour to the night.

High school senior Jax Carlton served as master of ceremonies, warmly welcoming attendees and introducing each participant as local youth volunteers escorted them onto the stage.

The showcase began with a powerful opening as one participant proudly waved the MVHS flag while the MVHS band performed the school fight song, setting an uplifting tone for the evening.

Throughout the program, the audience was treated to an impressive variety of performances, including piano solos, vocal performances, dancing, comedy acts, and more. Each act highlighted the incredible talents, determination, and joy found within the special needs community.

Cheers, applause, and emotional moments filled the auditorium as every participant took center stage. The evening concluded with all performers returning together for a standing ovation, followed by individual awards recognizing their talents and contributions.

Attendees left the event inspired and grateful for the opportunity to celebrate an important and cherished part of the Moapa Valley community.

Hosted at the MVHS auditorium, “Born to Shine” was made possible through the collaborative efforts of JustServe and Aspire. More than 60 youth volunteers from across the valley helped make the evening a success, including students from NHS, JAG, TLC, Student Council, and local church groups.

The participants extend a special thanks to Tara Leavitt who photographed the red-carpet entrance. In addition, local photographer Chris Morley generously donated his time, and talent to provide professional photos for the participants.
