Jesus Christ Showed Us Greater Love

The Savior’s love for you transcended His pain and suffering. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites us all to experience the love of Jesus Christ and to feel the reality and impact of His glorious Resurrection for all. Easter is a time of renewal and a season to remember Him and the love Jesus Christ shows to us. He loved us so much that He suffered and died for us. Then, on the third day, He rose again. As we seek to feel His greater love this season we will experience a greater measure of the joy, gratitude, and peace that come from knowing that Jesus Christ lives.

What We Believe

Jesus Christ is the Son of God — our Savior and Redeemer, sent to save us all. Because of Him, you can feel joy and peace knowing you can be free from sin and someday live forever with God and your loved ones.

Jesus Christ was an example of our love. He compassionately healed the sick and disabled, fed the hungry, raised the dead, cared for the poor, welcomed social outcasts, and ministered to all who faithfully sought Him.

The Savior feels the same love and compassion for you. As Christians, we strive to be like the Savior and reflect His love in all we do.

Each of us, including you, can feel greater joy and peace by following the teaching of Jesus Christ. Your local congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has weekly services where you can learn more about how these teaching apply to you personally.

What We Believe About Easter

Although the Savior lived a perfect life, some felt threatened by His influence or were angry as He called out their hypocrisy. They conspired to have Jesus killed.

The night before He was crucified, Jesus Christ retreated to the Garden of Gethsemane, where He suffered the pains and sicknesses of every one of God’s children. This made it possible for Him to provide help and healing in every circumstance.

He was then betrayed, arrested, beaten, mocked, and nailed to a cross. Three days later, He rose to live again, conquering death and sin. Though Jesus Christ’s death was tragic and unjust, His divine sacrifice made it possible for each of us to be forgiven and rise from the dead.

When Jesus Christ suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, He took our sins upon him. He paid the price of justice so each of us could receive mercy. When we sincerely repent, we can be forgiven.

Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day after His Crucifixion. Because of Him, each of us can also be resurrected and live again. We can live with God and our loved ones in a perfected body, free from sickness, sorrow, and pain.

Jesus Christ Still Lives Today

Jesus Christ is a living, Resurrected being. He leads and guides His prophets and apostles today through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe He will return to the earth again and reign with peace. This year we invite you to come experience His greater love with us.

Brighton

Seminary is a four-year program for high school students to study the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the scriptures and the teachings of Latter-day prophets, they deepen their understanding and grow closer to their Savior.

Held during the school year across the Greater Las Vegas area, seminary classes are often attended in the early morning before the school day begins.

In our family for Easter week we talk about the days leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection. Each night we focus on the day before the cross and resurrection chronologically. We read the scriptures that coincide with those events and have an age appropriate discussion, mostly geared toward the littles in our home.

Celebrate The Easter Season With Us

Year-round, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints try to keep the Sabbath day holly by workshopping at church and focusing on activities that help us draw closer to Jesus Christ. The Easter Season brings a special focus on Christ’s Resurrection. That might look like families reading passages about the Resurrection from the Bible together or congregations including Easter musical numbers in their workshop services.

Many Latter-day Saints celebrate events leading up to Easter, such as Palm Sunday and Good Friday, by studying the events of the Holy Week, listening to songs about Jesus Christ, and enjoying a special meal with family and friends.

There are several events planned around the Valley to help celebrate this Holy Season.

Join us on Easter Sunday

This year we invite you to join us in celebrating Easter Sunday via a worldwide broadcast. People from all over the world will join together for the largest virtual global religious conference. We join together to hear talks from religious leaders and enjoy performances of sacred music.

General conference is a chance to hear from modern-day prophets about God’s message for us today. Their talks are like scriptures for our own time. This year it will be a special opportunity to worship together for Easter to learn from Dallin H. Oaks, the prophet and the President of our Church, along with the twelve Apostles and the leaders of our women and youth organizations. All are welcome to watch, no matter which faith they belong to.

As you watch or listen to the speakers, you may receive insights unique to you and your personal circumstances. God knows you, and He uses prophets to share His love and guidance for you. General Conference will be available to view via:
